St George Underwater Centre

St George Underwater Centre is one of Sydney's oldest diving facilities, having been established for over 30 years. We offer scuba diving training at all levels, from the basic Openwater course, through to the Advanced Openwater and Rescue diver courses, as well as the professional levels of Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor. We also offer a wide range of specialty courses, which focus on specific areas of scuba diving.

We are affiliated with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, or PADI - the world's largest diver certification agency. We are one of the few PADI 5 Star Dive Centres in Sydney, as this rating is only earned by dive centres who show the highest of standards in the following areas:

Around 7:00am on Thursday, April 2, 1931, a dense fog suddenly rolled into Long Bay, obscuring the northern headland. On the bridge of MV Malabar, en-route from Melbourne to Sydney, Captain George Leslie recognised the danger and ordered 5 degrees rudder to steer the ship seaward to pass further offshore than his original plan of half a mile.
