The Silent Wrecks of Truk Lagoon - MBH Productions

Breathtaking underwater sequences and superb historical cover of the most popular wrecks in Truk Lagoon.

Mark Harris of MBH Productions has just released his latest underwater video documentary on what is considered to be the world?s best wreck diving experience ? the fabulous WW2 wrecks in beautiful Truk Lagoon. Superbly filmed in razor sharp digital video, this DVD is a must have for anyone who has dived at Truk or is considering a future trip to this fabulous location.

Mark spent many months researching the events, which culminated in ?OPERATION HAILSTONE?, a massive series of air attacks launched by the US Navy on the Japanese Imperial Fleet stationed at their secret base in Truk Lagoon. The film crew made 40 dives at Truk to capture the underwater sequences which have been skillfully blended with actual US Navy archival attack footage to give a unique perception of the violence and pandemonium of the last moments of each of the wrecks, and then seamlessly slips below the surface to explore the peace and ethereal beauty of their final resting place.

The DVD runs for 60 minutes and takes us on a well-narrated tour of the most frequently visited wreck sites of Truk Lagoon. The DVD covers nine shipwrecks and two aircraft wrecks that now lie in delightfully clear water. We are able to experience the excitement of the descents, the beauty of the artificial reefs and teeming marine life which festoon the decks and superstructure of most of the Truk Lagoon wrecks. We then penetrate into the ghostly intact interiors, which are littered with wartime supplies and artifacts.

You will see inside the cavernous multilevel engine room, the stored zero fighter planes and the bow gun of the FUJIKAWA MARU, the tanks and mines on the deck of the SAN FRANCISCO MARU, the Torpedoes and Periscopes on the HEIAN MARU, the massive 18 inch Naval gun shells and the tragic skeletal remains in the YAMAGIRI MARU, the machine guns still in place on the ZERO FIGHTER, the beautifully encrusted Bridge Telegraphs on the SHINKOKU MARU, the swim through interior of the BETTY BOMBER. See the huge propellers and the thousands of bottles still in the hold of the RIO De JANERIO MARU and much much more of the 11 wrecks covered in this DVD.

The program also gives us some brief glimpses of the sheer beauty of this tropical paradise and the warm friendliness of its people. The DVD is made up of linked segments for each wreck to enable viewing as either a continuous program or the selection of any particular wreck for playback.
