The oceans are superior to land as an environment for life support. By understanding this medium, the first to support life on earth, we can begin to understand how and why Watery Creatures have so many exciting and unique characteristics.

From a distance, the wealth of life that lives on, in, under and among the rocks that make up much of any coastline is scarcely imagineable. To many of us, these are places for a casual walk, for poking about, or where fish bait can be collected.

But how many of us had a really close look at what lives there ? What could possibly survive where waves constantly pound the rocks, where there is a constant danger of being swept away ?

This is The Rocky Shore and much of the life that is found here is extraordinary, weird and some even bizarre beyond belief.
