Marine Visions III Art Competition Entry - Byron Underwater Festival 2009

Retrospect Gallery in association with the Byron Underwater Festival is hosting the third inaugural ‘Marine Visions’ International Art Competition and Exhibition.

Not to be confused with the ‘Underwater Photo and Video Shootout Competition’, this is a fantastic opportunity also for those who cannot make it to Byron Bay to display and sell your work over the course of the festival and be in the running to win over $5000 of great prizes including cash, a full PADI Open Water Course, framing and printing and much more.

Marine Visions III is an open medium art competition which means we accept photos, paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings ... anything

Our team of professional judges including Scubadiver Australasia publisher John Thet, The Mayor of Byron Bay Jan Barham, the Echo’s Jeff Dawson, Retrospect Galleries Curator Bree Delian and World Famous underwater photographer and author of several books Mathieu Meur as well as festival organiser Tim Hochgrebe.

We are accepting "Ready to Hang" as well as "Digital" Entries

Ready to hang entries:

You are sending us your artwork and Marine Visions Entry Form, which can be downloaded on the Underwater Festival website

• Deadline 10th April 2009 No entries after this date will be accepted.
• Entries must be accompanied by a high resolution jpeg file (minimum 1500 pixels wide/high), description (up to 100 words) and dimensions of finished work.
• All works must be related to the Marine environment - either above or below the waterline.
• All works must be “ready to hang” and be of exhibition quality in any medium or sculptural form.
• All works must be dry.
• All works must be for sale.

Digital entries:

You are sending us your artwork as a digital file PLUS the Marine Visions Entry Form, which can be downloaded on the Underwater Festival website

• Deadline 10th April 2009 No entries after this date will be accepted.
• Entries must be accompanied by a maximum resolution file and description (up to 100 words)
• All works must be related to the Marine environment - either above or below the waterline.
• The entries will be printed 600 x 400mm on either stretched canvas or framed at that size.
• All works must be for sale.
• Entry fee for this section includes printing and return postage* of any unsold prints.

*overseas entries will attract additional fees for returning canvases/frames - please enquire.
